Convenor Update - November

What I have been up to…

Women’s Community Feedback survey:

To ensure that I am supporting the women of our community I created a survey to allow all women to express their opinions and ideas for future events. This survey will allow me to tailor events to YOUR preferences! So far the engagement has been successful and has been a great start point to developing my ideas for you all!!! Click here to fill it out, it only takes 3 minutes to complete :)

What I have been up to…

Reclaim The Night - 44th annual march!

On the 27th November 2021 we celebrated a very important moment! Supporting the voices of individuals who have been affected by gender based violence. The sense of community experienced during this march was unmatched! The noise! The positivity and the emotion expressed definitely made the 44th annual march a march to never forget! Thank you everyone who marched and helped reclaim the night and end sexual violence.

15/16th November No Regrets Spiking awareness:

LBSU teamed up to No Regrets to address Alcohol/ Spiking awareness. Through giving away freebies (rape alarms, cup condoms, mini torches, etc) as a Students’ Union we are actively addressing social issues. These of course are still available for all students, in order to make students feel as safe as possible at university and in Leeds!

Mindfulness Workshops :

Natalie Lennox (Your Disabled Students’ Community Convenor) and I recognise the significant impact that mental health can have on your university experience. Therefore we are developing mindfulness workshops, we plan for these to include a wide range of support services: discussions, coping strategies, day to day hacks, support contacts, etc. MORE INFORMATION COMING SOON.

‘Womanity’ Podcast w Katelyn Adele:

I have had the pleasure of interviewing a Leeds Art University Fine Art student who discusses her work on feminism, womanhood, patriarchy, women’s role in society and how social issues influence her as an artist. The purpose of this interview is to promote other women to discuss the successes and motivations of their work! Through promoting and support other women in our community we are actively creating a stronger WOMENS community! Would a podcast be something of interest to you? Would you like to get involved? Email me!!
