FreshersLeedsWelcome Week

It’s almost that time – Freshers kicks off next week with a packed line-up filled with exciting fairs, amazing nights out and loads of chances to get to know your new city! Check out the full line up here.

Grab some freebies at the fairs!

A whole week of freebies and extra student discounts? Say less.

Student life can be expensive, but Freshers week is filled with loads of fun activations on campus and freebies you can stock up on (hello Wingstop, Trinity Leeds, BOX and more)! Whether you’re snagging free Dominos for lunch from Monday-Thursday or winning prizes at brand’s stalls, there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone.

It’s your chance to meet student groups and sports teams

This week is a great opportunity to actually meet the students involved in many of the groups you’re interested in joining this year. You can find them online anytime, but during the fairs, you can ask them your questions, get to know the vibe of the group and meet new people!

Whether you’re interested in joining a society or student community, or you want to get involved in a sport, don’t miss out! You can also browse the full list of student groups here

So, when and where can I go to find the Freshers Fairs?

Each day of the week will have a slightly different focus! Here’s a quick rundown:

Monday 21 September, Headingley Campus (11am-3pm) – freebies, student groups and sports team

Tuesday 22 September, City Campus (11am-3pm) – freebies and loads of student groups

Wednesday 23 September, City Campus (11am-3pm) – meet the sports teams and grab freebies

Respect the one-way system

To ensure you don’t miss anything at the fairs and that everyone has a nice experience, we ask all attendees to respect the one-way loop in place! At Headingley Campus you’ll enter through the big doors of the Sports Arena with the Freshers banners and exit through the back. At City Campus you’ll enter through the main doors of the Portland Building and exit through the Events Hall on Woodhouse Lane. Follow the signs posted around the fairs to move through the spaces more efficiently and prevent traffic jams!

The Hive and Level-Up to chill on campus

Looking for chill spot on campus to relax between lectures or grab a bite to eat? The Hive is here for you! They’ll be open all week serving up coffees, matcha and all your breakfast and lunch favourites. The Hive is open from Monday-Friday from 9am-8pm with food served from 10am- 3.30pm (Friday from 10am-2pm)!

Our new space, Level-Up, is launching during Freshers too! Head up to the Mezzanine in The Hive for comfy sofas, darts, PS5 and board games. We also have the Pixel Bar Gaming Hub by The Hive near the Events Hall! Swap your student ID for a controller from The Hive’s bar to play with friends.

Join loyalty schemes and get discounts early

Freshers week is the perfect time to sign up to loyalty schemes so you can collect points and get rewards for the whole year! The Hive has its very own loyalty scheme and you can unlock exclusive discounts and collect 6 points for every £ spent at the bar! You can sign up here and collect 50 points straight away!

Make sure you also check out apps like UniStreet! There are loads of great discounts for students to help you stretch your budget further and make the most out of Term 1.

Get to know the services

Come along to City Campus on Friday 25 September to learn about many of the services that will be available during your time at Leeds Beckett! From the Careers Service to LBSU’s independent, free and confidential Advice Service, this is a great chance to see what’s out there for you before you even need it.
