IntoUniversity is an educational organisation that supports young people to explore their future options and to develop skills and knowledge to achieve their goals. We have learning centres across the United Kingdom. Our mission is to bring a university education within the reach of young people from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. We work with young people aged 7-18 and provide long term pastoral and academic support.

  • University Student Mentoring

    *This is an in-person volunteering opportunity*

    What will IntoUniversity expect from you?

    - To meet with your young person mentee for one hour every two weeks

    - Commitment to the role and enthusiasm for working with young people (minimum of 10 meetings)

    - Willingness to build positive relationships with young people

    - Initiative and collaboration with staff to help to deliver engaging sessions

    - Compliance with our volunteer code of conduct and safeguarding procedures

     

    What can you expect from IntoUniversity?

    • Ongoing support from your centre staff team 
    • Initial training and induction
    • Training opportunities to develop your skills, depending on the role
    • Flexibility in volunteering around your schedule 
    • Celebration and recognition of your time volunteering with us 
    • Travel expenses paid, please arrange in advance

     

    How to Apply

    • Register and click the "Apply" button on this page
    • You will then be invited to attend a training and selection session to prepare you for working with young people, including in-depth safeguarding training 
    • If selected to be a mentor, you will be matched with an IntoUniversity centre in your local area  
    • You will be invited to an induction at your centre to meet your team 
    • This role requires an Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List check (England) or PVG Child check (Scotland). IntoUniversity covers this cost and will support you with the application process
