Societies are student-led activity groups which offer a variety of opportunities for students to get involved in; this includes anything from groups based on academic courses, media, RAG, faith and culture to liberation and political groups, to societies based on a hobby such as watching films or photography. The opportunities are endless, being a member of a society will give you the chance to meet like-minded people, make new friends and enhance your University experience.

How will Societies operate this year?

The Student Activities Team will be continuing to support students to form and run societies, projects, enterprises and campaigns, and applications to the Student Activities Grant Fund will continue to be available to help support this activity. Due to restrictions on available space on campus, and current social-distancing guidelines, unfortunately we do not expect to be able to facilitate the organisation of student-led events on campus during the first semester – however we will provide support for online, remote, and other off-campus events subject to risk assessment and adherence to current government guidelines.
