Hi! I’m a Student Community Organiser at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union and a second-year BA (Hons) International Relations student at Leeds Beckett University.

I chose to study at Leeds Beckett for a combination of reasons, but one of the biggest was Leeds itself. I wanted to study in a city that felt lively, diverse and full of opportunities to meet different people and experience new things.

So far, one of my favourite things about university has been my course. I’ve always been interested in international affairs, politics and the different ways societies and countries interact. I also really appreciate how enthusiastic my lecturers and academic staff are about their areas of expertise. Their passion makes the subjects even more interesting and encourages me to engage with the topics beyond just what I need to know for my assignments.

I applied for the Student Community Organiser role because I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and become more connected with the student community. University can sometimes feel like you are surrounded by people without necessarily getting to know them, so I wanted to take a more active role in meeting students, hearing about their experiences and helping create spaces where students feel able to get involved and have their voices heard.

Through my role, I hope to become more confident in connecting with people from different backgrounds and contribute to campaigns and activities that make a meaningful difference to students. I’m also looking forward to learning more about community organising and developing skills that I can carry with me beyond university.

Outside of work and studying, I’m basically a professional learner! I love going down random rabbit holes and learning about things that interest me. At the moment, I’ve somehow become very interested in fighter jets. Could call me a nerd.
