Hello fellow students 😄 ! I'm Eliza Mahmood, a Student Community Organiser at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, and I’m in my first year at this role. I’m also a second-year BSc (Hons) Human Resource Management student at Leeds Beckett University.

I chose Leeds Beckett because for its diverse and inclusive culture, as well as the opportunities available to students to help us grow. Also for my course Beckett provided the most adequate and specialist knowledge in comparison to other universities which amplified my desire to study here. Through Leeds Beckett I’ve been able to take on several roles across the University and Students’ Union, including Student Community Organiser, Student Ambassador and Global Ambassador. These experiences have provided me a nuanced approach to navigating cross-cultural communication and understanding diverse perspectives.

I applied to become a Student Community Organiser because I strongly believe that organising can empower individuals and influence meaningful change. I particularly enjoy having conversations with students, helping to amplify student voices and build a more engaged campus atmosphere.

In my role, I hope to create lasting connections among students and continually advocate for campaigns that resonate with people which could enhance student experiences and wellbeing.

Outside of university, I’m passionate about hiking and reading. I also enjoy travelling, meeting a diverse range of people and conquering new opportunities and challenges.
