Leeds Beckett Students' Union would like to express our support to everyone in our community that has been impacted by the tragic events that unfolded at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester yesterday. Our thoughts are with the victims, the Jewish community in Manchester and our Jewish students in Leeds. This antisemitic attack reminds us of the frightening damage that hatred causes, and highlights the importance of standing together against abuse, prejudice and discrimination.
The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority, and we are committed to creating a space where everyone feels safe and supported. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive community at Leeds Beckett, and we are dedicated to ensuring that every student feels valued and protected. We have zero tolerance for any form of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, or harassment on our campus.
We encourage anyone who is subject to or witnesses any incident to report it immediately and, if required, anonymously through the established route of Support. Report. Respect. If you have been affected by the events, need help or would like to talk to someone, the University's Student Wellbeing team is ready to help. You can reach them at studentwellbeing@leedsbeckett.ac.uk or by calling 0113 812 8507.
