ElectionsNewsVoice

It’s time to meet your 2026/27 Student Officer Team! After a busy few weeks for candidates and their campaign teams, the students have now spoken and your new student leaders have been chosen!

3,372 students turned out to vote! Students from all schools, communities and societies all came together to make this important decision.

We want to say a massive congratulations to each and every one of this year’s candidates for their hard work during a very busy election. You've ran incredible campaigns. We also want to say thank you to everyone who voted, encouraged others to vote, or got involved in the campaigning to support candidates and worked to campaign for the NUS UK Referendum.

Our student executive committee is here to represent you and the diverse communities that we have at Leeds Beckett! You can work with them by becoming a Community Organiser, Community Leader or a Course Representative, or by attending one of our student assemblies and joining our campaigns for change.

Meet your 2026/27 Student Officer Team:

  • Undergradute Officer - Grace Muzite
  • Postgraduate Officer - Mifrah Mujeeb Khan Deshmukh

Your School Officers are:

  • School Officer for Built Environment, Engineering & Computing - Islam Elserougi
  • School Officer for Law – Love Oyedele

Some School Officer roles are still available. If you're interested in representing your School, contact communityorganising@leedsbeckett.ac.uk, and we will let you know when we re-open nominations for these roles.

NUS UK Referendum Results

975 of you voted in the NUS UK Referendum. With an almost 70% majority, you voted ‘NO’ to the question "Should Leeds Beckett Students' Union remain affiliated with NUS UK?". This means LBSU will disaffiliate from NUS UK.

Again, well done to all the candidates that stood in the elections this year and all the campaigners that got involved– it isn’t easy to put yourself forward for an election and you’ve all campaigned with creativity and determination!

Join us in congratulating the newly elected Student Officer Team! They’ll start their work at the Students’ Union in the summer just in time to welcome you for the next academic year. We can’t wait to see what they achieve with your support!
