Join in our celebration of International Stammering Awareness Day and hear directly from those who stammer.
Join Us for an Inspiring Evening: Stammering Awareness Event!
We’re thrilled to invite you to a special Stammering Awareness Event in celebration of International Stammering Awareness Day — happening on Friday 24th October at 5:30pm!
(PD407, Portland Building, Leeds Beckett University)
This is a powerful opportunity to hear directly from adults who stammer, sharing their lived experiences, insights, and reflections on communication, identity, and the social model of stammering. Their voices will challenge stigma, spark conversation, and inspire change.
One young person will also bravely share their journey with stammering and therapy — offering a unique perspective on growing up with a stammer and navigating the world with courage.
Enjoy FREE food and drink, mingle with others, and connect with a welcoming community of people who stammer, families, friends, students, staff, and allies.
Event Schedule:
- 5:30pm – Arrival, refreshments, and informal chat -
- 6:00pm – Talk by the Society and Ben, lecturer and stammering specialist, on the social model of stammering and this year's theme of diversity.
- 6:30pm - Personal stories from speakers who stammer
This is a PUBLIC EVENT — open to everyone! Whether you stammer, know someone who does, or simply want to learn more, we’d love to see you there.
Reserve your spot now: Select a FREE ticket, here on this page. You must have a ticket to enter.
Let’s celebrate voices that deserve to be heard. See you on the 24th!
