Following the Student Members Meeting which took place last night we are pleased to announce the result of the Campaign Priority Ballot.

Attendees had the choice to prioritise one of four policies including Divest/Invest, Free Education, Men’s Mental Health and Sensible Drugs Policies.

With an overwhelming majority of the votes, they chose to prioritise the Men’s Mental Health Policy this year which means that the Students’ Union will deliver a campaign that:

  • Explores the opportunities to partner with an organisation such as Ben or The Samaritans for 24-hour crisis support.
  • Reduces the stigma associated with mental health in society.
  • Signposts to support services and calls for further training of staff.
  • Pays additional focus to highlighting the issue of and reducing the stigma around men’s mental health.

It is clear that mental health is an important topic that students are passionate about and following the Student Members Meeting at the meeting of the Student Council, a policy motion calling for a Mental Health Awareness Month was passed unanimously.
