Kitty Lambert

Hey! I’m Kitty (she/her) and I’m running for the position of Academic Experience Officer to represent YOU here at university.

I began my journey at Leeds Beckett in 2019 and gained an undergraduate degree in Law, and am now a postgraduate student enrolled on the LLM Legal Practice Course. I also started working part-time at the Student's Union as the LGB+ Community Leader in July 2022. Aside from university, I enjoy playing guitar, attending live music events, and am passionate about women’s rights. I also love Leeds, so when I’m not studying you’ll find me at either the Key Club, Brudenell or in a local coffee shop!

Since I have been a student throughout the pandemic, I know first-hand how hard it has been trying to balance studying with the likes of wellbeing, finances and spending time with friends and family. So if you, like me, have recently felt as though you are trying to keep your head above water in today’s turbulent society- you are not alone, and I want to represent YOU!

If you elect me as your Academic Experience Officer, my main objective is to create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment, and aim to reduce stress among students. I plan to do this through running events such as coffee mornings, whereby students can grab a hot drink before seminars and meet others, to create a collaborative work environment and a sense of belonging. I would also like to incorporate plants into study spaces! They promote productivity, boost mood and connect us back to nature, which is what we need right now.

Additionally, I am keen to signpost career opportunities and improve students’ employability skills, so I plan to host more CV writing and career workshops. But, I aim to make them more informal, fun, and accessible. I also want to help students find ways to save money during the current cost of living crisis, as I believe that this is central to improving the student experience at university.

Furthermore, as part of my role as the LGB+ Community Leader at LBSU, I work closely alongside the Trans Community Leader. Together, we represent and celebrate those who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. The strive towards equality is something that I will maintain if I was elected, and I will ensure that your student experience is as inclusive as possible. No matter your age, race, religion, disability, gender, or sexuality, I will always be open to new ideas as to how we can improve and develop as a university. I will highly value your opinions and will implement change wherever I can.

I would love the chance to represent you as Academic Experience Officer, so vote now and I’ll see you soon.
