Dhruv Dev

Hey! I am Dhruv and I am standing for the position of President and NUS delegate for the election. I am currently your Project supervisor for Shop zero and Eco soup and studying my masters in Sports events, which I am finding an amazing experience to get connected with you all!
I love being able to engage and interact with the little community that we have created and spreading smiles so far.

As your project supervisor I have been able to help students so far with cost of living by providing them groceries at the cheapest rate, providing with soup for Pay as you feel and interacting with them with all the major concerns and help needed from accommodation to jobs.
My initial aim is to help in improving student lives at university & to raise awareness of our student’s union and all other societies and communities.

My main objectives for this academic year would be

  1. Improve Sense of Belonging - By organizing more cultural events like Afro - Caribbean, Asian and many more. Introducing continental food and snacks on campus with student led projects.
  2. Increase Student Engagement-Improving on campus life by working towards both the campuses, organizing events according to individual schools that will help students connect to larger networks within the community, encouraging community service, volunteer work and working to create sense of community on campus
  3. Enhance Career development opportunities- I will be organizing job fair with the career's teams in parallel to fresher's fair which will not only help freshers with fun but with finances as well, also will be working towards increasing the current 20hrs to 30hrs by arguing in the designated lobby for the same.
  4. Peer to peer mentoring - guiding students with the help of students in their regional language that will help them out with assignments and study work.
  5. Hybrid Courses - Will work towards providing both online and offline education at the same time along with timetable schedules that are more feasible to both students and the staff.
  6. Promoting both Mental and Physical health - As a physiotherapist myself, I understand the importance of both. Engaging students with regular talk sessions, meet-ups, and events to know what the real problem is and then working on the solutions.
  7. Cost of living - I will work towards providing access to university spaces like Gyms, Swimming pools for more affordable prices and more towards being Free. Providing more Grocery on campus at the cheapest price possible with shop zero.
  8. Increase sustainability efforts - I am working with Eco soup and Shop zero to tackle cost of living and sustainability and will be working more in association with Beckett sphere.

YES, you have seen me on campus helping students, it's time to help me so that I can work as your SU President, I am committed to serving the interests of all LBU students, and to promoting a vibrant and inclusive campus community.
