I'm excited to say that I'm running for the SU position of Activities & Events Officer. As someone who cares a lot about building a strong campus community, I believe I'm the best person to represent you and make our time at the university something we will always remember.

As a student myself, I know how important it is to have a wide range of events and activities that appeal to people from different backgrounds and with different interests. My platform is based on three ideas that will guide my work if I'm elected: being open to everyone, being creative, and being responsible for what I do.

Inclusivity
The most important thing for me is to make sure that every student feels welcome and a part of our events and activities. This means actively looking for and listening to different points of view and voices and giving students chances to talk to each other in a respectful and meaningful way. I think that each student has something special to offer, and I want to make sure that everyone has a chance to shine.

Creativity
I think that being creative is the best way to keep our events and activities interesting and new. I'll try hard to come up with new ideas that push the limits of what can be done on our campus. I want to bring new and exciting things to our community, whether it's putting on a music festival, holding a cultural fair, starting a new sports league, etc. Coming back from lockdown we as individuals have learnt a lot about ourselves and how creative and innovative one can be when given the platform and i look forward to implementing a platform that would explore the creativity and innovative talent of the student community as a whole.

Accountability
Lastly, I think accountability is very important if we want to make sure we're meeting the needs and wants of our fellow students. I'll ask for feedback from the students on a regular basis, and I'll use that information to make decisions about the events and activities we plan. I am also committed to being open and honest about our budget and resources, and to using those resources in the most effective and efficient way possible.

As your Events and Activities Officer for Students, I promise to:

  • Work hard to make the campus a place where everyone feels welcome and where people want to be.
  • We'll listen to what you have to say and use it to help us make decisions.
  • Bring creativity and new ideas to all of our activities and events.
  • Be honest and responsible in everything we do.

Thank you for considering me as a candidate for the Activities & Events Officer position. I'm really looking forward to the chance to work with you and make our time at college the best it can be. Together, I think we can make a great campus community that will make us all feel proud and happy when we think back on it.
