Thao Pham

Hello everyone! My name is Thao Pham. I come from Vietnam, and currently, I’m studying MA Media and Culture at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Leeds Beckett University.

The cost-of-living crisis has negatively impacted students’ lives across the country. As an international student studying and living in the UK, I have always had a constant worry about not being able to pay my monthly expenses, especially since I haven't been allowed to work a full-time job yet. That’s why I decided to join the NUS National Conference 2023 to undertake meaningful involvement in making students' lives better on a national level.

This is one of the annual events of the National Union of Students (NUS), a democratic space where students’ unions all over the UK gather to shape upcoming priorities for students, students’ unions, and NUS. I believe such an event is a great opportunity for me to build focused, high-impact campaigns which call on the UK government to take action for a national change for students.

What will I do for you?
If you elect me…

  1. I will call on students’ unions to promote the Cost of Living Campaign to ask the UK government to develop a tailored cost of living support package for students.

  2. I will call on students’ unions to promote Freeze rents not students and Free Transport for Students to bring much-needed security to students’ lives and provide free and safe public transport for all students and apprentices across the UK.

  3. I will actively participate in important discussions regarding current and upcoming policy proposals with other members of the Leeds Beckett Students’ Union and other students’ unions to ensure students’ lives in the future.

Like what you see? Vote for me – Thao Pham – to be an NUS Delegate 2023!
