Luka Johnstone Watts

My name is Luka Watts and I wish to put myself forward for the role of Disability Officer. As someone who has long suffered socially at the hands of Asperger’s Syndrome, I vehemently believe that all those with disabilities-both physical and mental—should be given more guidance, opportunity and support through the university.

This should come in the form of additional funding in the disability team within the Uni, giving proper support to students applying for DSA, Hardship fund and other , I myself know that these processes can be needlessly complicated and present unwarranted stress for students who simply don’t need it.

My biggest campaign goal is to input on the creation of the the disability space on campus. I recently attended a focus group with likeminded students to discuss what sort of area we’d like to create for our peers. I personally wish to see through the creation of this space as I feel it would be very beneficial now that more and more students are returning to campus, having a designated area for support will aid disabled students and prevent confusion for us.
