Action Tutoring

Action Tutoring logo

We partner our brilliant volunteer tutors with school pupils to increase their subject knowledge, whilst building on confidence and study skills. We are an official provider for the National Tutoring Programme (NTP), a government initiative to support disadvantaged pupils to recover from the educational disruption caused by COVID-19. Disadvantaged pupils have been hit hardest by this crisis and we want to help as many as we can!

Action Tutoring partners with primary and secondary schools to deliver tutoring programmes for pupils preparing for their GCSEs and SATs in English and maths. A 'programme' means a term of tutoring at a partner school, with sessions at the same time and day each week. A programme is usually between 10 20 weeks long. The start and end dates will be communicated with you before you commit.

There are no sessions during school holidays.

As a volunteer, you will be able to choose which programme you are allocated to. For the pupils, all tutoring takes place at school. If you decide to tutor on one of our in person programmes, you will attend these sessions in schools, where you will be working in a team alongside other volunteer tutors. For our online programmes, tutors work remotely and support pupils in English or maths in a virtual classroom.
