Join our team of Officers and Student Community Organisers to help support our campaign to change timetables at LBU to...
Are you looking to make a real difference to the lives of Leeds Beckett Students while also gaining valuable skills and experience during the process?
Do you wish your university timetable was more flexible and allowed time for you to engage with other priorities such as part time work, care-giving, and extra-curricular activities alongside your studies?
At LBSU, our team of Officers and Student Community Organisers need you to help support our campaign to change timetables at LBU to make them work for students! The more students that get involved to support this activity the greater power we will have to create the change you wish to see.
We are looking for students to volunteer as part of a team to drive forward this change. You are invited to join a campaign action team, which will be supported by staff from the SU and Leeds Citizens, who can provide guidance and expertise help engage you with our campaign cycle.
As a member of a campaign action team, you can expect to work with other students to build momentum for the campaign, work to define clear objectives for creating change, and take part in building collective power to negotiate with stakeholders to win the change students want to see.
The Timetabling Action Group will initially work towards:
- Reducing the number of days in a week that students are required to be on campus for teaching.
- Allowing students with caring responsibilities to have a choice of their class times to fit around their care responsibilities.
- Enabling greater use of a hybrid delivery of teaching and learning.
No experience is necessary to join the action group, we only ask that you are a student at Leeds Beckett whose life would be improved by a more flexible, condensed study timetable and are willing to join us to help lead on this work.
This is a great opportunity to build on the following skills:
- Communication.
- Leadership.
- Campaign strategy.
- Teamwork.
- Confidence.
- Time management.
- Network building.
Additionally, as a volunteer at LBSU you can reflect on the key skills you have built by engaging with us and are encouraged to record your hours on the website to receive certificates of participation for key milestones when you complete a set number of volunteer hours. This is just one of the ways you can demonstrate your skills for employers and for self-improvement.
We hope to see you soon at our campaign action group. Please sign up to be contacted further, and if you have any questions, please contact us at lbsu-communityorganisers@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
