What is the Youth Collective?

This is an established group of young people aged 14-24 based at Leeds Art Gallery, supported by our Youth Engagement Officer.

The Youth Collective members meet on the first Saturday of every month and during Covid lockdown have met more regularly online.

We participate in activities which respond to our collections and exhibitions.

Provide you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills by participating in the Art Award.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to life at the gallery by getting involved with a variety of projects including producing work for our Leeds Art Gallery Facebook, Instagram and Twitter platforms.

We work in partnership with other arts and museum organisations.

Due to the current Covid government restrictions, we are not able to meet at Leeds Art Gallery and are meeting online. However, we are continuing to produce exciting workshops and work in partnership with artists and meeting up in person, when it is safe to do so.

This volunteer role will suit you if you are: Aged between 14 and 24. Enthusiastic, reliable and willing to commit to volunteering for five hours once a month, with additional hours if required. Interested in art, design, history, sculpture and social media. Enjoy learning as part of a team. Would like to gain knowledge and practical gallery experience.

You should be willing to abide by the Council’s code of conduct, which will be explained to you by the Youth Engagement Officer.  No qualifications or experience is required as training will be given.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.  If you are 18-24 you may be required to undertake a DBS check.
