Mind Over Chatter

Volunteers are needed for Mind Over Chatter- a student-led peer support group, aims to facilitate group support sessions for students who might be struggling during their time at University. Mind Over Chatter will provide a safe environment for all students to share experiences or just meet a friendly face.

Mind Over Chatter sessions will be based in the Students’ Union- City Campus twice a month during the academic term.

We are looking for students to take the roles for: general group facilitator, peer-support group leader, a volunteer and sessions coordinator and a communications and marketing volunteer. All volunteers will be required to attend mental health awareness and support group facilitator trainings.

Volunteers for the student-led peer support group will be expected to commit at least 2-3 hours a week. Part of volunteering will also include promoting the group to students, working together with LBSU and the Student Wellbeing Team at Leeds Beckett. The Students’ Union will provide ongoing support to students working on this project.

By volunteering for Mind Over Chatter, you will be able to get a certificate for your volunteering hours and work towards achieving the Beckett Awards to receive accreditation and recognition for your extra-curricular activities.

Dates to be confirmed for compulsory training in mental health awareness and facilitating a support group.
