We provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. We also campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment, educate the public about eye care and fund eye disease research. We have been expertly breeding and training guide dogs for more than 75 years, providing many thousands to blind and partially-sighted people of all ages and from all walks of life.
We also deliver confidence-building rehabilitation services to adults, young people and children - including long cane mobility training and communication and daily living skills.
We are looking for some crafty students to make us some dog related items which we can use to sell as fundraising items in future recruitment events! It is totally up to you what you make as long as you are following government guidelines when making them. However, if you get stuck here is a few suggestions:
If you could share what you have created on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GuideDogsLeedsMobilityTeam) using the hashtag #GuideDogsFamily to spread the message. Then once the advice on social distancing has been lifted we are organising a Meet Guide Dogs event with your university to pick up your doggy crafts! Perfect opportunity for when you are stuck in isolation with nothing to do!
Minimum commitment level: Once a week
Start Date: 03-04-2020
