Every time I walk into the Leslie Silver Building, there are many students and staff smoking and vaping around the entrance. Do we really want this to be the face of our university?

This building is our only City Library and probably the most popular building in City Campus. Staff, visitors and students shouldn't be greeted by clouds of vapour and smoke in order to access the library etc.

We all know how bad second-hand smoking is and it shouldn't have to be a requirement in order to access the building.

I've taken this issue up that the 5 meter smoke free zone is not enforced. I completely agree it looks terrible and I'm sure the University has an obligation to protect us from second hand smoke. I'm not against people having somewhere to smoke but it should not be where others are exposed.

A better idea is for a smoking shelter with seating to be provided then everyone will be happy rather than just driving students who smoke or vape away

That's true Jessica Crowley, I think that any change from what it is now would be beneficial :)
