The aim of the Fundraising Week is to raise awareness of the importance and power of student fundraising activities on a national local and international level.
The Fundraisiong Week will also provide a platform for those students with similar mind-set to meet and interact while sharing experiences and ideas on successful fundraising activities.
This year, our societies will raise funds for the local Guide Dogs charity, the National Guide Dogs, the Coopafeel charity, Cancer Heaven, SNAPS, Shelter, Maggie’s Yorkshire and Candlelight and many more!.

A year on from last year’s first Leeds Beckett Refugee Awareness Week and the refugee crisis is worsening every day. In 2017 an estimated 655,000 Rohingya refugees fled Myanmar. The number of Syrian refugees reached an estimated 5.5 million. The number of climate refugees continues to rise above 21.5 million. Out of the total 65 million refugees in the world the UK only hosts 168, 978 to date.
Through the week of 19-25 March we will be demonstrating the extent of the refugee crisis around university. In safe, supportive and secure environments you can come along and learn about the struggles and triumphs of refugees from around the world.
Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, in partnership with Action Interactive International and Leeds City of Sanctuary will be hosting discussions, tournaments, exhibitions and get togethers. This week is about opening our hearts to refugees and taking the first step in becoming aware of the growing crisis. It is also a chance to celebrate and appreciate the community spirit that Leeds has and hopefully contribute towards giving refugees a chance to experience the same.
