The dust has settled and your leaders have been chosen.

We would first of all like to thank all of the candidates who campaigned, persevered, and conducted themselves like true champions of the LBSU spirit. It is not easy to put yourself forward to become a leader of the SU and all of your hard work proves your dedication and spirit.

Without further ado, it’s time to meet your leaders:

Union Affairs Officer – Barbara Pereira
Equality & Diversity Officer – Kay Rhoden-Campbell
Welfare & Community Officer – Pango Simwaka
Education Officer – Sherry Iqbal
Activities & Events Officer – Anna Crooks

2,280 students voted in these elections, which saw 25 students campaign for your votes. Of those candidates:

•    52% were women,
•    16% identified as LGBT+.
•    We had 28% BAME, and
•    20% international candidates.
•    32% were mature students,
•    28% were in postgrad studies,
•    While 24% of candidates identified as disabled

The Leadership Elections are one of the biggest events in the SU calendar, requiring huge effort from the whole staff team to make them happen. A huge thanks goes to all staff and Officers who took time out of their usual jobs to encourage students to nominate themselves, to work on a polling station or to provide support to candidates, and a big thanks to our fantastic student staff as well.

Congratulations to our new 2020/2021 Officer Team!
