Heyyy there my fellow students of Leeds Beckett University,
I am Sanskar Tiwari, a student at Leeds Beckett University, and I am thrilled to present my manifesto
as a candidate for the NUS National Conference Representative post. With a commitment to
diversity, inclusivity, and student welfare, I aim to be a voice that resonates with the international
student community and ensures their concerns are heard and addressed.
Here are the most important aspects which I promise to work upon,
Inclusivity and Diversity:
Leeds Beckett University is a melting pot of cultures, and it is crucial to celebrate and embrace this
diversity. I will work towards creating an inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds
feel valued and represented. This includes promoting cultural events, fostering dialogue, and
advocating for a curriculum that reflects the global perspectives of our student body.
International Student Advocacy:
As an international student myself, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come
with studying abroad. I will advocate for policies that support international students, including
improved visa processes, cultural integration programs, and mental health support tailored to the
needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Accessible Education: Education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background. I will
strive to ensure that no student is hindered in their academic pursuits due to financial constraints.
This involves working closely with the university administration to explore scholarship opportunities,
affordable housing solutions, and accessible resources for all students.
Student Well-being: Mental health is a top priority, especially in a demanding academic environment.
I will collaborate with the university counseling services to enhance mental health support, promote
well-being initiatives, and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help. Additionally, I will
advocate for the provision of resources in multiple languages to cater to the diverse student
population.
Environmental Sustainability: As global citizens, it is our responsibility to contribute towards a
sustainable future. I will work towards implementing eco-friendly practices within the university,
such as promoting recycling programs, reducing carbon footprints, and incorporating sustainable
practices in campus development.Engagement and Communication: Communication is key to understanding and addressing the needs
of the student community. I will establish regular forums, both online and offline, where students
can voice their concerns, share ideas, and actively participate in the decision-making process.
Transparent communication will be the cornerstone of my representation.
Collaboration with NUS: Strengthening the connection between Leeds Beckett University and the
National Union of Students (NUS) is vital for amplifying our collective voice. I will actively engage
with NUS to ensure that our university’s concerns are effectively communicated at the national level
and that we benefit from the resources and support they offer.
In conclusion, my candidacy is driven by a passion for creating a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive
university community. With a focus on international student advocacy, diversity, accessibility, well
being, sustainability, communication, and collaboration with NUS. Together, let’s build a university experience
that truly reflects the diversity and aspirations of our student body. Vote Sanskar Tiwari for NUS National Conference Representative!
