Dear Fellow Students,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the NUS National Conference Rep position at Leeds Beckett University. As a dedicated Course Rep, a passionate advocate for women's rights, and a proud Arab, I am committed to representing the diverse voices and interests of our student body at the national level. Below, I outline my manifesto, highlighting key initiatives and values I intend to champion if elected to this important role.

Amplifying Underrepresented Voices:

  • As a woman and Arab student, I understand the importance of amplifying the voices of us groups within our university community.
  • I will work tirelessly to ensure that the concerns and perspectives of all students, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background, are heard and addressed at the national level.

Supporting Course Reps and Student Activists:

  • Drawing from my experience as a Course Rep, I will provide support and guidance to fellow Course Reps and student activists, empowering them to effect positive change within their respective faculties and communities.
  • I will advocate for resources and training opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of Course Reps and student activists in representing their peers and driving meaningful change.

Engaging with International Students:

  • Recognizing the valuable contributions of international students to our university community, I will prioritize engaging with and advocating for the needs of our international student population.
  • I will work to address issues such as visa regulations, cultural adjustment, and access to support services, ensuring that international students feel welcome, supported, and valued within our university and the wider NUS.

Building Solidarity and Allyship

  • I will actively seek opportunities to build solidarity and allyship with other marginalized groups within the NUS.
  • I will advocate for policies and initiatives that promote solidarity and mutual support among all students, fostering a sense of belonging and collective empowerment within the NUS and the wider student movement.
  • I will actively seek feedback from students and provide regular updates on my activities and progress as NUS National Conference Rep, ensuring that students are informed and engaged in the work of the NUS.

As your NUS National Conference Rep, I am dedicated to representing the interests and concerns of all Leeds Beckett University students with integrity, passion, and inclusivity. I believe that by working together and amplifying our collective voice, we can effect meaningful change within the NUS and the higher education sector as a whole.

I respectfully ask for your support and trust in electing me to this important role. Together, let us build a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered student movement that reflects the diversity and strength of our community.

Thank you for your consideration.
