My 5-point-programme that I aim to set in motion during my tenure as Welfare Officer:

Food, Transportation, Housing & Governance

  • Starting a foodbank and partnering with large grocery stores to provide student discounts
  • Increasing distance and adding stops to the LBU shuttle bus
  • Communicating with students regarding housing options while offering positions to study at the university
  • Establishing sub-committees within each school of study throughout the university for better feedback and access

Athletes' Well-being

  • Partnering with sports courses to provide lifestyle support to athletes
  • Increasing global sport sessions
  • Collaborating between Student Union and Athletic Union for all-round well-being of student-athletes

Postgraduate Students’ and International Students’ Well-being

  • Well-being support and regular check-ins with post grad and international first year students
  • Well-being check-in at regular periods by “Buddy-up programme” and staff

Transforming Communal Spaces/Adding Fun Spaces

  • Installing games like table tennis and carrom in SU spaces in both campuses
  • Creating well-being pods/rooms in both campuses: A fun pod with board games and a quiet pod with books
  • Global sport Sundays – cricket and other sports (opportunities for volunteering for students)

Peer-to-Peer Support

  • “Group/Buddy-up programme”: Matching people up with peers before university begins. The aim is to not feel alone and leave university with friends not contacts.
  • “Give-back programme”: Opting to mentor a fresher/first year student of your course in your second year of university/after you graduate

Why should you vote for me?

I too felt alone in the first few months of uni alongside the troubles of navigating a new country. I struggled to balance life, sport and uni. This position allows me to change that for all of us!

Additionally, I study psychology and thus understand the importance of well-being. I am a transparent, friendly and reliable person who is highly passionate about her manifesto! I believe in collaboration and have already begun liaising with other candidates and staff members. I envision us all graduating from LBU with good friends and cherished memories.
