My name is Alphonse Merten Barden, a postgraduate student studying MSc. Biomedical science and I am running to be your next Activities and Event Officer. I believe my experiences and enthusiasm can help reshape the face of activity and event on campus and make students life more fun and educative. I am committed to building a vibrant activities and events through out the year to promote student diversity and inclusion, networking, student engagement, career development and finally entertainment and fun.

Over the years I have worked in the entertainment and event industry, and I bring on board when my experience to make university life more loving, fun, and entertaining.

My vision for this office is: 

Student inclusion and diversity:
Every student and community within LBSU will be involved in every activity and event planning because I will promote for a wide range of activities and events that will represent and cater for the wide range of events that cater for the diverse interests and backgrounds of the community. This will be achieved through broad representation, accessibility, cultural awareness, and support for underrepresented groups.

Increase student engagement:
I see a campus where every student feels connected, involved, and empowered to shape their university experience through meaningful engagement in a diverse range of activities and events. Student will have a voice into how activities and events are organized on campus. Student thought and view will be sourced when it comes to implementation of activities and events. This will be done through emails, conferences, and meetings to discuss the way forward and the direction for LBSU.

Networking:
I promise to organize events where industry players, past student can connect and share ideas and learn and understand what is happening in the job market. This will be done and achieved through networking events, mentorship programs, industry partnerships and online networking communities. “There is a saying to go far go alone, but to go further go together”. The speaks about the importance of networking and collaboration.

Career development:
When elected as activities and events officer I promise to engage and partner with industries for workshops, conference, events, and internships. I will engage alumni to facilitate mentorship, career advice, networking opportunities for current students. I will bring on board online forums and networking opportunities that can be accessed online aside physical events and have access to broader audiences.

Entertainment and fun:
I will provide a wide range of entertainment options including concerts, movie night, talent show, game entertainment to create opportunities for students to connect, socialize and forge friendships through interactive and engaging activities.

I entreat all of you to vote for me. A vote for me is a vote for student inclusion and diversity, increased student participation and engagement, networking, career development and entertainment and fun.
