Supporting Statement for the Position of NUS Liberation Conference (Woman Student) Representative.

Hello everyone, my name is Chinwoke Ejionueme-Ifepe (she/her), and I would like to be elected as the National Union of Students (NUS) Liberation Conference (Woman Student) Representative for Leeds Beckett University at the NUS Liberation Conference in Blackpool on the 15th and 16th of April 2024, because I am committed to fostering policies that positively impact women students in Leeds Beckett University.

With my experience in policy and procedure drafting, I have developed great research, interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills which are very relevant to this role. With these skills, I am able to work with other students to identify the major issues facing women in education today such as barriers to accessing education, balancing academics, work and life, as well as the multiple layers of invincibility that's prevalent in this area, and thus help to shape upcoming policies and priorities for women students at Leeds Beckett University.

If elected, I hope to actively participate and contribute to discussions centred around the involvement of women in the NUS general elections. Also, I will engage national officers at the conference in the interest of Leeds Beckett University women societies to better support its members including how best the NUS can support the efforts of LBSU breaking the barriers to purposeful education for women students. Furthermore, as women student representation will be discussed at this conference, I look forward to adopting and implementing the ideas shared at Leeds Beckett Student Union especially pertaining to diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility, which I hope would be discussed. Finally, I will represent the LBSU's interests in electing women students as national officers and leaders.
