"Together, let's create memories that last a lifetime."

I am Aarya Kotwal, a candidate for the position of Activities and Events Officer. My vision is rooted in the unique identity and vibrant spirit of Leeds Beckett University, aiming to elevate our university experience through a dynamic calendar of events. As an enthusiastic member of this community, I am eager to contribute to its diversity, inclusivity, and the exceptional energy that defines Leeds Beckett.

Vision:

  1. Weekly Cultural Showcase: Drawing inspiration from Leeds Beckett University's lively cultural scene, I propose a series of one to two weekly events. These will feature live concerts, DJ nights, gaming, and a variety of food and fun. This aims not only to entertain but also to strengthen the sense of community that defines Leeds Beckett.

  2. Enhanced Communication: With Leeds Beckett University's strong emphasis on student engagement, I will use regular emails and strategic social media updates to become the heartbeat of our university. This platform will enable societies to showcase their events, share successes, and engage a wider audience.

  3. Cross-Society Collaboration: Leeds Beckett University's strength lies in its diverse and vibrant student societies. I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration among these societies, facilitating joint events that transcend traditional boundaries. By encouraging cross-society interactions, we can create a dynamic fusion of ideas, talents, and interests, resulting in a more interconnected and entertaining university experience for everyone.

  4. Optimizing Society Potential: Recognizing the strength of Leeds Beckett's student societies, I will ensure each society reaches its full potential. Through collaborative events supported by the student union, we will unlock the creativity and enthusiasm of every society on campus.

  5. Revitalized Student Union Website: The heart of Leeds Beckett University's online presence, the student union website, will be transformed into a centralized hub. Always updated and active, this platform will empower students to easily discover past and upcoming events for more effective promotion and attendance.

Why I'm Standing:

My journey in Afterdark events, where I hosted multiple successful Bollywood nights, is a testament to my ability to curate culturally rich and entertaining experiences. My roles as a sports marketing manager and operations manager at Calcio football centre reflects my dedication to sports management and event operations.

Moreover, volunteering at sports events with Yorkshire Cancer Research, such as the Leeds Marathon, has instilled in me a profound sense of community engagement and social responsibility. These experiences have not only shaped my skills but have also fueled my passion for creating events that leave a lasting impact.

I stand for this position because Leeds Beckett University is more than just an academic institution; it is a diverse community that thrives on shared experiences. My goal is to contribute to this vibrant community by leveraging my skills, experiences, and deep understanding of our university's ethos.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. I am eager to collaborate and work towards making Leeds Beckett University an even more exciting and inclusive place for all.
