Hello, Fellow Students!

I'm running for Student Welfare Officer because I believe every student deserves to thrive, not just survive, during their time here. As your Welfare Officer, I will be your fiercest advocate, ensuring your voices are heard loud and clear on all matters affecting your well-being.

My Priorities:

1. Championing Mental Health:

Increase access to counseling services: We need shorter waiting times and culturally competent counselors to address diverse needs.
Destigmatize mental health conversations: Organize workshops, awareness campaigns, and peer support groups to break down barriers and encourage open dialogue.
Promote healthy coping mechanisms: Advocate for mindfulness resources, stress management workshops, and accessible physical activity opportunities.
2. Prioritizing Sexual Health and Safety:

Expand access to sexual health testing and resources: Ensure convenient and affordable options for all students, regardless of background or identity.
Combat sexual harassment and misconduct: Work with the University to implement effective reporting systems, support survivors, and promote a culture of consent.
Educate on healthy relationships and consent: Organize workshops and awareness campaigns to empower students to navigate relationships safely and respectfully.
3. Ensuring Safe and Secure Housing:

Advocate for fair and transparent housing regulations: Address issues like unreasonable tenancy agreements, discriminatory practices, and inadequate living conditions.
Promote accessibility and affordability: Work with landlords and the University to increase options for diverse student needs and budgets.
Provide resources for navigating housing disputes: Offer support and guidance to students facing difficulties with landlords or housing authorities.
My Approach:

Active Listening: I'll hold regular open forum meetings and actively seek student feedback through surveys and direct communication.
Collaborative Advocacy: I'll work closely with student groups, the university administration, and external organizations to push for meaningful change.
Transparency and Accountability: I'll regularly update you on my progress and hold myself accountable to fulfilling my promises.
Vote for me, and together, we can create a more supportive, inclusive, and well-rounded university experience for everyone. Remember, your well-being is not just important; it's essential. Let's work together to make it a priority.

Together, we thrive!
