Dear Students,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of NUS Conference Representative. As a passionate advocate for student rights and a firm believer in the power of collective voice, I am committed to representing our diverse community at the national level. Here is my manifesto:

1. Amplifying Student Voices:

  • Establish regular open forums to gather feedback and concerns from students.
  • Create an online platform for anonymous submissions to ensure every voice is heard.

2. Advocating for Inclusivity:

  • Promote inclusivity and diversity in all NUS initiatives and policies.
  • Collaborate with student societies to address the unique challenges faced by various groups.

3. Mental Health and Well-being:

  • Lobby for increased mental health resources and support services on campuses.
  • Advocate for destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting a culture of understanding.

4. Affordable Education:

  • Work towards reducing the financial burden on students, advocating for fair tuition fees.
  • Push for increased access to affordable textbooks, online resources, and other educational materials.

5. Environmental Sustainability:

  • Advocate for environmentally sustainable practices on campuses and in NUS events.
  • Collaborate with student organizations to implement eco-friendly initiatives.

6. Accessible Education:

  • Champion accessibility initiatives, ensuring that education is accessible to students with disabilities.
  • Advocate for inclusive learning environments and the availability of necessary accommodations.

7. Communication and Transparency:

  • Regularly update students on NUS activities, decisions, and policies through transparent communication channels.
  • Solicit input from students before making decisions on their behalf.

8. Empowering Student Activism:

  • Support and collaborate with student activists working on important issues.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to empower students to engage in advocacy.

9. Post-Pandemic Support:

  • Advocate for continued support for students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Push for flexible academic policies to accommodate students facing challenges.

10. Collaborative Networking:

  • Foster relationships with other NUS representatives to create a strong and unified student voice.
  • Work towards common goals and share best practices for the benefit of all students.
