Better Policies, Better Leadership, Vote For Jack 

Policies: 

  • Citywide Student Discounts:
  • Negotiate and establish partnerships with local businesses to create exclusive offers and discounts for students, making it more affordable for them to explore and enjoy the city.
  • Tenant Protection Initiative:
  • Advocate for improved protection for students against exploitative landlords by working with local authorities to enforce tenant rights and housing regulations. 
  • Establish a platform for students to report issues with landlords and provide support in addressing housing-related concerns.
  • Championing Art Projects:
  • Support and promote student-led art projects, including music events, to showcase and celebrate the creative talents within the student body.
  • Highlighting Student Entrepreneurship:
  • Showcase and support student-startups, freelance work, and side hustles through dedicated events and networking opportunities.
  • Establish a platform for students to promote and share their entrepreneurial endeavours within the university and the broader community.
  • Introduce a Job Shop:
  • Create a job agency to help students find work whilst doing their studies. 
  • Late Night 'Angel' Scheme:
  • Increased support for 'Street Angels Leeds' to provide trained volunteers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during nights out.
  • Partner with local venues and transport services to establish safe routes and transportation options for students returning home late at night.
  • Enhanced Campus Security:
  • Improve security measures on and off campus, especially around bike sheds, by collaborating with campus security, local law enforcement and improving lighting and surveillance.
  • Expanded Social Opportunities:
  • Collaborate with local projects and businesses to organise events, fairs, and networking sessions to create diverse social opportunites for students.
  • Revitalised SU Events:
  • Work closely with student groups and organisations to revitalise SU events, ensuring they cater to a wide range of interests and preferences.
  • Encourage collaboration between different student societies to create dynamic and inclusive events.
  • Community Building:
  • Develop initiatives to strengthen the relationship between the university and the local community.
