A warm hello to the student community of Leeds Beckett University!

This is Darshan Bhavik Momaya, I am giving it my best chance to become the NUS National Conference Representative. It's been a very short time since I have been here in Leeds and the opportunity to contest in the elections allows me to express myself better. In hindsight, my nature is of an outgoing person and it will make me happy to converse with every one who is taking the time to read out my manifesto.

If the opportunity of becoming an NUS delegate materializes, there are a few concerns I would like to campaign on behalf of the student community. The following would be the key priorities for campaigning:

  • Working towards cheaper and affordable means of housing facilities in the UK for students. In addition to affordability, the concern of more hours of work and opportunities will be a part of my efforts to make student life easier.
  • Access to cheaper healthcare facilities for students and extended support across universities in the UK for students with disability.
  • Promoting the mental well-being of students and campaigning for facilities that can help international students settle in both on the academic and non-academic fronts.

In addition to these goals, I will aim to represent your challenges and be a voice of equality, diversity, and inclusivity. My leadership experiences include leading a team of public speakers at Toastmasters International and working as a coordinator at an NGO in India. The confidence gained from my previous experiences allows me to present myself as a NUS National Representative Nominee at Leeds Beckett University for the 2024 elections.

Lastly, I would represent with honesty and discipline, respect my role as a responsible part of the student community and greet you with a smile. I hope you all allow me the opportunity to grow in this space with you and make an impact for the betterment of the student community.

Looking forward to your support in my journey to become the NUS Representative!
