I am running to represent you at the NUS conference, committed to amplifying our collective voice on a national platform. Central to my campaign is a groundbreaking policy proposal to the government which I have proposed already, the reduction of the International Health Surcharge (IHS) fees. This initiative, while directly benefiting international students, is designed to uplift our entire student body, reinforcing our unity and shared commitment to fairness and accessibility for all.

Our university thrives on diversity, with students from around the globe coming together to create a richness of cultures, ideas, and perspectives. However, financial barriers, such as the exorbitant IHS fees, threaten this diversity, placing undue burden on our international peers and indirectly impacting the quality of education and life for all students. My policy proposal aims to reduce these fees, making healthcare access more equitable and ensuring that no student is disadvantaged because of their nationality.

Reducing the IHS fees is not just about alleviating financial strain; it's about creating a domino effect of positive outcomes for the entire student population. Here’s how:

•         Enhanced Accessibility: Lowering the financial barriers to healthcare ensures that all students, especially those from international backgrounds, can access the medical services they need without the stress of overwhelming fees. This creates a healthier, more focused student body.

•         A Stronger, More Inclusive Community: By advocating for the rights of international students, we send a powerful message of solidarity and inclusiveness. This policy fosters a sense of belonging and community among all students, enriching our campus culture and educational experience.

•         Empowering Student Voices: This campaign exemplifies the strength of our collective voice. Achieving a reduction in IHS fees would demonstrate our ability to effect change, encouraging more students to engage with and contribute to our advocacy efforts.

My Commitment to You

As your representative, I pledge to:

•         Listen and Advocate: I will actively listen to your concerns and ideas, ensuring that your voices are at the forefront of our NUS conference agenda.

•         Transparency and Accountability: You will be kept informed at every stage of our campaign. I commit to transparency in my actions and accountability for my decisions.

•         Collaboration and Engagement: I will work closely with student organizations, university administration, and external partners to drive our policy forward, ensuring that our collective needs and aspirations are addressed.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

Together, we have the power to transform our university into a beacon of inclusivity, equality, and student empowerment. By voting for me as your NUS conference representative, you are endorsing a future where every student, regardless of their background, can thrive. Let us stand united in our pursuit of a fairer, more accessible educational experience for all. Vote for change. Vote for unity. Vote for a brighter future for every student at our university.

Together, we can make a difference.
