If elected, I would aim to:

  • Enhance Student Mentorship Program to Foster Communication and Inclusivity.
  • Develop an Accessible Academic Guidance Map for Enhanced Support.
  • Facilitate Short-Term Projects for Hands-On Learning and Employment Preparation.

These aims will positively impact students' lifelong learning and personal and professional development because they address key aspects of a holistic educational experience.

1. Enhance Student Mentorship Program to Foster Communication and Inclusivity:

  • Propose expanding the graduate and peer mentorship program to better accommodate distanced students and promote inclusivity.
  • This initiative aims to pair experienced graduate students with newer peers, facilitating communication and support.
  • Mentors will offer guidance and advice, nurturing confidence and socialization among mentees.
  • Structured activities, regular meetings, and workshops will be organized to strengthen mentor-mentee relationships and raise awareness about available support.

2. Develop an Accessible Academic Guidance Map for Enhanced Support:

  • Introduce an all-inclusive guidance map to aid students in navigating their academic journey effectively.
  • The map will consolidate information on academic programs, support services, and career opportunities, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • It will cater to diverse preferences and needs in various formats, such as online platforms or mobile applications.
  • This initiative aims to alleviate time pressure by providing comprehensive resources in one accessible location, empowering students to make informed decisions.

3. Facilitate Short-Term Projects for Hands-On Learning and Employment Preparation:

  • Implement short-term projects with practical experience aligned with students' academic and career aspirations.
  • These projects, integrated into coursework or offered as extracurricular activities, will enable students to build confidence and skills relevant to employment.
  • By partnering with industry or community organizations, students will gain exposure to real-world scenarios, fostering awareness and networking opportunities.
  • Tailored to accommodate diverse student backgrounds and needs, these projects aim to support mature students, neurodiversity, and student parents and carers.

Having served as a Global Ambassador and Accommodation Ambassador at Leeds Beckett University and as a University Representative Assistant in study abroad fairs, I've cultivated essential skills in communication, consulting, social media marketing, intercultural communication, pitching ideas, and customer service. These experiences have prepared me to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, making me a strong candidate for roles promoting communication, support, and awareness within the university community.
