Creating Futures Together: Leeds Beckett University's Manifesto


To the community at Leeds Beckett University,
It is a privilege to present my manifesto as a candidate for the prestigious office of University President. It outlines a vision for our university that reflects our distinct character, core values, and shared goals. Together, let's set out on a path of scholarly achievement, inclusivity, and community involvement.

1. Academic Excellence:

a. Improved Learning settings: I will divert investments towards cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art buildings to support those technologies. Therefore, building a vibrant and futuristic learning environment that fosters creativity and academic excellence.
b. Industry-Relevant Curriculum: We will make sure that our academic programs stay at the forefront of innovation by closely collaborating with industry partners, equipping students to meet the demands of a quickly changing professional world.

2. Inclusive Campus Culture:

a. Diversity and Equality: I'm dedicated in creating an environment that involves providing teachers, staff, and students with thorough diversity training.
b. Accessible Education: We'll endeavor to improve accessibility throughout our campus so that all students, no matter their background, have equitable access to learning opportunities and resources.

3. The Student-Centred Approach:
a. Student Well-Being Services and Representation: To promote our students' holistic development, I will give top priority to growing and enhancing our mental health, counselling, and well-being programs by making sure that students’ opinions are heard and respected.

c. Creating more On and Off Campus Job Opportunities: I plan to collaborate with the new and upcoming businesses to creat better part time job opportunities. 

d. Affordable and Accessible  Accommodation: I plan to collaborate with many realtors to arrange affordable and easily accessible student accommodations which will help in improvising the university transportation that is my next goal. 

e. Improvising University Transportation: I will try and improvise the university shuttle bus services to accommodate various bus stops across the city and also increase its frequency. 

4. Research and Innovation Hub:

a. Multidisciplinary Research Centres: I would support the establishment of multidisciplinary research centres, promoting departmental collaboration to tackle intricate global issues.
b. Support for Entrepreneurship: Our institution will serve as a center for innovation and entrepreneurship, offering the tools and guidance required to transform ground-breaking discoveries into profitable businesses.

5. Community Engagement:

a. Local collaborations: By deepening our connections with the neighbourhood businesses, we will launch cooperative initiatives and collaborations that support the area's social, cultural, and economic advancement.
b. Public Lecture Series: By starting a regular public lecture series, we hope to provide a forum for thought leadership and community involvement by bringing eminent speakers to our campus.

6. Sustainable strategies:

a. Green Campus Initiatives: We're going to commit to sustainability by lowering our carbon footprint, putting eco-friendly strategies into action, and integrating sustainability into our academic offerings.

Let's work together to create a future for Leeds Beckett University that is based on academic quality, inclusivity, and a common dedication to improving both our local and global communities.
