About Us

We are a small charity concerned with the numbers of children and young people reporting poor mental health. We are campaigning for mental well being education to be mandated in all schools

Emma’s Embrace is a charity set up to hear and listen to the voice of the young. It seeks to understand what pressures young people are under, the challenges they face and the stress this brings. We are striving to understand the reasons why so many young people are reporting poor mental health and identify ways to address the causes, whatever they are.

We live in a time different to any other we have experienced before. New technology, high costs of living and education and uncertain job security are just a few issues that young people face today. We can’t let our young people go without support anymore. We challenge the use of language that medicalises everything to do with mental health. We know this can lead to young people internalising issues, rather than looking at the environmental factors that could be affecting them. We fear this prevents young people seeking support early as they worry they will be labelled as mentally ill or feel like something is 'wrong' with them. All too often what they are feeling is a completely natural response to a given set of circumstances.

The purpose is to promote the mental wellbeing of young, to ensure they receive the social support they need, when they need it, to deal with life’s challenges, with a focus on early intervention and prevention
